# Ampres

> Ampres is the independent AI and open-source lab of Giovanni Crapuzzi and Paolo Stega. They develop public software and explain artificial intelligence to people who want to use it in their own work. Ampres is not an agency and does not sell consulting services.

In this context, Ampres refers to the lab and media brand at ampres.io. Both are computer engineering graduates of Politecnico di Bari. Giovanni created Talamus and owns its architecture, releases, and documentation, along with project direction and the editorial line. Paolo handles source research and technical verification.

- [Talamus](https://github.com/ampres-ai/talamus): Open-source, local-first persistent memory for coding agents, created and maintained by Giovanni Crapuzzi. Version 1.1.3 is published on PyPI and in the official MCP registry under Apache-2.0. Measured results are committed in the repository, including a 97.7% reduction in tokens per answer versus loading the whole brain into context.
